Opening Up in the Diocese of Coventry
22.1.09
Over the past six months we have been looking at just how many of our church buildings are open to the public at times other than scheduled services.
Generally our Diocese is doing well. There is a growing confidence amongst our church communities where keeping our churches open is concerned. Many groups who have previously kept their buildings closed to the public are opening up and seeing the benefits of sharing their spaces more widely. A closed door says negative things about us but an open door says that we are a welcoming, hospitable body of people and that our churches are for everyone and not just for Sundays.
We have had a great response from the parishes and as a result we have been able to put together a list of those that are open and closed. Some have specific opening arrangements in terms of timings or key-holders and where applicable this is detailed.
The list can be found on our Ambassador’s page. If you find any of the information to be incorrect – or if a church that is listed as closed is really open! – do get in touch.
If your church is currently closed and you would like to learn about how to open up with confidence, even for a few hours a week, do let us know. You can call us on 024 7652 1306/346 at any time and we’ll get back to you.
