Three Churches Walk

It's incredible just how many of our churches are linked by the footpath networks. You just have to consult an OS map of your area to realise the potential.

Three churches across two deanerys in our Diocese decided to work out just how feasible it was to get to each others churches on foot. It proved so easy that they decided to devise a walk that could be published and shared more widely. When Solihull Borough Council heard of their initiative they happily came on board, offering to publish the walk as part of their leisure offering to people who want to explore the countryside in the Solihull area.

St. Andrew's, Eastern Green, St John Baptist, Berkswell and St Laurence, Meriden invited David Kearny from Solihull MBC to 'walk the circular walk' starting at St Andrews, back in October 2009. It was a perfect day and we were joined by others from the parishes to try out the walk along with a dog or two! The walk takes in all three churches and each building offers opportunities to explore and take a rest. The views at Meriden, combined with the Berkswell crypt and the churchyard at St Andrews make a complete package for exercise, relaxation and heritage.

You can find a downloadable copy of the Three Church Walk here. If you would like to explore the potential for making something like this happen where you are do get in touch.
