The site on which St Marks stands was originally an apple orchard and was donated by Lady Bertie Percy, granddaughter of the poet and playwright Bertie Greatheed.
Designed by George Gilbert Scott, this church has lots of people stories to tell and share including links to the Bronte sisters, and it is still today at the heart of its community. It has 18 large stained glass windows including five by the celebrated craftman in glass Charles Eamer Kempe. Free leaflets are available to guide you around the building including a children's Treasure Trail.
