St Lawrence, Napton

Church Road
Napton

Occupying an imposing position overlooking the village of Napton, this church with Norman origins also houses a mystery. What was the purpose of the unusual vestry door with its iron grille insert - some suggest that the area was once used as a confessional, was it for ventilation or was it used as a means of passing donations to the poor?

Take a stroll around the Napton nature trail, which passes through the churchyard, around the village and out to the local reservoir. Pick up a leaflet in church.
