It is believed that a Saxon church once stood on this site, but sadly no trace of this remains. The majority of the present building dates from 15th century and for many years it served its local community as a school. Only one original stained glass window remains - the rest were lost when the church was bombed during the intense air raids of 1941.
This grand and elegant building holds many surprises and has some intriguing stories to share. Look up at the ceiling of the Leeke chapel to see the fascinating carving - see also the lion at the foot of the tomb of Sir Marmaduke Constable - and outside you'll find the tombstone of the former vicar buried alongside a young African chief.
