St Laurence, Ansley

Church End
Ansley
CV10 0QR

The earliest parts of this church are Norman, including the beautifully carved chancel arch. There are several lovely windows, one of which is a stunning arts and crafts design in memory of W G Phillips, great-great grandfather of Peter and Zara Phillips and owner of the local colliery.

The church was re-pewed in the 18th century and a seating plan was drawn up for worshippers. A notice was placed in the porch by the vicar in 1924 stating “All seats in this Church are free"!
