St Peter ad Vincula, Hampton Lucy

Church Street
Hampton Lucy
CV35 8BE

This astonishingly grand church is like a small cathedral, and is relatively new, being built in 1822 and added to in 1856 by Gilbert Scott. The East Window is well known and depicts the life of St. Peter.

Charles Maries, the plant hunter, was born in Hampton Lucy and travelled extensively in China and Japan. Many of the specimens he collected are grown in the village and a memorial trail is available signposting where they can be seen.
