St Mary the Virgin, Kinwarton

Kinwarton Village
Kinwarton
B49 6HB

A tiny church, consecrated in 1316, found at the end of the lane next to the National Trust Dovecote. Mary the Virgin is depicted in a small 14th century window and the font still shows evidence of staples which were used to prevent witches from stealing holy water. There is a beautiful 15th century alabaster panel was apparently rescued by a Rector of the church in the 1800s from some rubble left in a carpenters shop in Binton. A plaque in memory of WW II pilot and crew is of interest to modern historians. Photograph courtesy of Images of England www.imagesofengland.co.uk
