A Four Star church featured in Simon Jenkins authoritative book, England’s Thousand Best Churches. St. Mary’s is a grand mausoleum housing the famous Beauchamp chapel, said to be the finest medieval chapel in the country, where Richard Beauchamp, a man who had the ears of Henry V, lies. Here also are to be found the Dudleys, Robert, Earl of Leicester being a great favourite of Elizabeth I. Children will be fascinated by the bread shelves for 32 poor men and women complete with loaves.
