The Inspiration…
Divine Inspiration is a three-year project funded by English Heritage, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the NC Bellefontaine Charitable Trust and supported by the Diocese of Coventry.
It acknowledges that church buildings are held in trust for all people to explore and enjoy, of all ages and any spiritual persuasion. They are full of potential for learning, heritage, leisure activity, cultural events and are, most importantly, for sharing.
It’s aim is to encourage those who are stewards of church buildings to look creatively at how to welcome visitors to their buildings and to tell better, well researched and more engaging stories to those who make visits.
Divine Inspiration supports these volunteers in churches to help them to develop an interesting, achievable welcome by offering free training and a forum for networking opportunities. It encourages churches to look at how they currently use their space and how they might share this creatively with others in their community by clever capacity building.
Divine Inspiration widely promotes churches as suprising and interesting places to visit and aims to give confidence to those who would not normally feel able to enter a church building to do just that.
